G'day Russo & fellow members,
I've been thinking about this for a while, now to find out what you all think!
I was considering a new forum, one which is read only - except for maybe a select few.
In this forum, we would transfer the great how to's ect as they arise. There is a great many brilliant pieces on this site, however many of them have been relegated to the furtherest reaches of this site as the many new posts eclipse them. This leaves some fantastic info forgotten forever!
I suggest that when anybody finds a piece worthy of permanent front page status, they nominate it to be included. We could then propose any additions/alterations to the piece then vote for its inclusion.
Of course nothing is set in stone, and if something comes up or changes, we could have a few moderators who could perhaps modify the piece, if needed further down the track.
Look forward to all your opinions, cheers.

Not sure how it all works but there are 'stickies' that I've seen in some forums that remain at the top of a particular topic.
It would be most helpfull.
"Where in the world was that thread about adjusting the valves, hm... let's see.. search for valve adjustment....Good grief, 20 pages of 'valve adjustment'....let's try this one...nope. Uh, this one....nope'.
Voice from the kitchen "You still on the computer? I need to make a phone call!"
"I'll be done in a minute!" (maybe)
Try this one...dam! ad naseum.

That sounds like a good idea, I would think the guys that answer most of the tech questions get tired of repeating fixing the same problems over and over. I knew nothing about these things when i got mine and did a lot of digging into old posts for info, all the answers are here you just have to dig for them. These bikes have their quirks as anything else mechanical and once you straighten those out they are a simple bike to maintain. Maybe someone can start it off with the basic fuel, ignition, and drivetrain problems with these then go from there. Even an old dog like me can still learn a few tricks.

This is along the lines of what i was suggesting a few weeks ago........................ How would we weed out the info that wasn't relevant in the threads and would this also become another 30 pages long, then we would be back to square one looking for the info.......... I read the home page most every day and if i come across some info i want to keep i then bookmark the page but that doesn't help the newcomers..........could a link system be set up to the pages of relevance.......... for example, If some one was asking about electrolysis then if RG wanted to answer, all he would have to do is post a link that would take you back to his post on how he done it...........Or perhaps a link to a page that was say, XSJohns mods and then links to the relevant pages or have the mods rewritten on that page by John

This is why I suggested a read only forum.
If you read a thread that you think is worth preserving then post the link in say the "I'm just saying" forum and nominate it with a poll, once we get say 10 votes, it gets put into a locked thread - read only!
Cheers

I really enjoy searching out the "nuggets" of info on this site, and like the idea of saving them in an accessable archive.Would save a bit of wild goosing...I've learned a BUNCH while wileing away the hours. As a newb I probably wouldn't be much of a contributer, but a heck of an appreciator! Thnx oh! and john once again contributes to the group!!
