Does anyone have any sound bytes of that beast I would love to hear it roar. To drive it you have to be STRONG LIKE BULL, SMART LIKE TRACTOR. Really I love it I'll show it to the wife and she'll know things could be worse. LOL

I wish people would stop chopping these old bikes, they're getting rare you know. That hardtail might be fine for barhopping but I bet he doesn't see many highway miles... trailer queen.

Make it run as is. A true Rusto Rod. Just keep it from vibrating, and out of the wind.

"Keep it from vibrating..." yeah, right. A Norton, even that little 400, that wouldn't vibrate. That Electra is about the only Norton ever made that I don't want.....unless an ES-2 engine would slip into that frame...hmmmm.

One of the true joys of owning a Norton is sitting at idle, watching the front tire hop up and down about two inches, in time with the engine.

Love Nortons!

Hey, Tacos...

My XS rumbles the front end at idle, too---it being a 180 vertical twin without such silliness as balancing weights, but that long-stroke big ol' Norton is the king of the idle-vibe! Of course, at 1800 rpm's, it get's glassy smooth, assuming it is a Commando. Otherwise, the rider just gets a big smile on her face and goes down the road. Loved that 650SS.....

So, just to bring it home, what sort of engine is in that so-called bike hanging up there above us at the beginning of the thread? I thought I counted eight pipes on each side, and it is in Germany? So is it from a Bf-109 or something? It apparently lays a smokescreen like a two-stroke on steroids.......in a "Mad Max" sort of way, I kinda like it. Rolling Eyes

A 12 cylinder diesel. Used in tanks originally?
