Lean jettings

[php]Took my 34's apart today & real suprise, the main jets are 130!

Manual (x3) all say should be 132.5 stock & absolutly every site w/info on theee things say go richer. Whats up with this? Why would someone put in even leaner jets than stock? Bike came from CA around sea level.

Any ideas? Thanks

CA emission control freaks of the world, how's it run? what color are the exhaust pipes? on chrome pipes blue is lean yellowish is rich

When you decide to rejet,use your plugs for this procedure and not your pipes as on coming cool air will discolor pipes. It's seems all the CV34s where jetting lean regardless of the geographical region.........Jack

jack i'm looking to buy cable driven carbs for a stock bore 650 with a 2into1 mac pipe and accel coil any segestions mikunis 34-6-8mm

Artie..........the VM34 round slides are more than sufficient in suppling all the fuel needs of the XS,even with engines mods. They provide excellent fuel economy,along with a noticable increase in throttle response over the CVS stock carburetors. Where as with the 36 and 38VMs,mileage will suffer some what do to low air speed velocity in the venturi and any power gained will only be noticable in the higher RPM range. The 34s are the ticket for street use Wink
